In March, AudioActive hosted a radio show to tie in with the release of their Mixtape Vol 3 featuring local rappers running through their tracks, chatting about their art and sharing bars in a live on air cypher. DECEMBER 2023 - PLATFORM B X OFFIE MAG

The definitive end of year Platform B show. A collaboration between underground rap and culture magazine Offie Mag and Platform B, celebrating the very best releases of the year covering everything from jazz to rap to indie to dance. OCTOBER 2023 - PLATFORM B X DV8 COLLEGE

We recently had the pleasure hosting a radio and DJ workshop at Brightons own DV8 creative college. Attendees were given two weeks to be able to experience all areas of running a radio show, including: branding your show, curating playlists, perfecting mic technique, operating a DJ controller, using an audio mixer and planning a segment.

OCTOBER 2023 - PLATFORM B X the new society: nooriyah

On Friday 6th October, Platform B are celebrating FIVE YEARS of broadcasting on 105.5FM. Head down to Patterns-Brighton for SWANA artist NOORIYAH + special guests. Born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Japan and now based in the UK, Nooriyah, known for her work as DJ, audio producer and presenter, has spent the past decade championing sounds of the diaspora. Founding SWANA focused collaborative in London ‘Middle of Nowhere’ which went on to host her debut Boiler Room - achieving over 1,000,000 streams in the first 3 months. March 2023 - MOVES Festival at The old Market

Platform B are the official broadcast media partner for MOVES Festival 2023 - taking place on the 4th of March ✨ Expect live performance coverage and lots of interviews backstage as Platform B DJs broadcast live from The Old Market throughout the night, celebrating the incredible lineup QM Records have put together 👀🎤

March 2023 - Thrive

Platform B will be delivering radio production training in Eastbourne as part of AudioActive’s THRIVE - a new music project for young adults aged 19 and above who do not have a GCSE grade C/level 4 or equivalent in mathematics. The bespoke music course, which will be held at Leaf Hall in Eastbourne, will cover a wide range of topics including songwriting, mixing, engineering, producing, radio production and performance.

The project is supported by Multiply (a new government-funded programme to help adults improve their numeracy skills), Skills East Sussex & East Sussex County Council.

FebRUARY 2023 - Crawley Workshop

Platform B will be in to Crawley Town Centre on Saturday 25th of February delivering a free radio workshop as part of Creative Crawley’s Give It A Go series. Come down to HMV Crawley between 2pm - 4pm to practice with DJ equipment, meet the team & learn more about radio 📻

September 2022 - Brighton Jazz Festival

On Friday 30th September Platform B teamed up with New Gen Jazz for their annual Brighton Jazz Festival on the Iconic Palace Pier. Platform B broadcast live performances from Ezra Collective’s Ife Ogunjobi & jazz fusion band Pyjaen as part of the festival’s New Generation Jazz night.

September 2022 - 234 Festival: The green door Store

On the Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th of September The Green Door Store, legendary venue and our studio home, hosted their 11th annual 234 Fest. We streamed the whole event live - listen back to the likes of English Teacher, Hutch & Welly on our Mixcloud.

August 2022 - Young Ends: Voices from the 67 Centre

Earlier this year, The Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) and Platform B collaborated on a radio project with a group of young men from the 67 Centre, a community centre in East Brighton. The young men who attend the centre, took part in recorded one-to-one sessions with a senior youth worker to share their experiences of growing up in the area and what life is like for young men today.

‘Young Ends’ blends the young men’s words with music from local producer and rapper Madaliso and sound design from Alfie Newman and Michael Melville to create an evocative audio piece framing the stories of the participants.

AUGUST 2022 - Hangleton & Knoll project: Radio Workshop

On Monday 8th August, Platform B will be hosting a radio and DJ workshop at Hangleton & Knoll’s Safe out in Summer Youth Session. Attendees will be able to experience all areas of running a radio show, including: mic technique, operating a DJ controller, using an audio mixer and planning a segment.

December 2020 - Radio Voices: Seeking Resolve In Sonics

Platform B was commissioned by MÆKUR - a Norway-based artist collective - to create a sound art piece focusing on the changing sonic and political landscape over 2020 to be part of their wider project called 'Conditions: 20_00'.

Radio Voices: Seeking Resolve in Sonics is a chronological exploration examining the experiences of young people in the Platform B community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The piece draws from archived material first broadcast during the UK’s national lockdown, creative work produced in self-isolation and interviews with presenters to construct a narrative centred around the station. The piece acts as a sonification of the shifting global landscape, drawing attention to the relationship between individual and universal experiences of the crisis.

DECEMBER 2020 - WE’RE HIRING: THE RISING

In early 2021, Platform B will be launching The Rising - a youth-led breakfast show for Brighton & Hove. The first of its kind for the city, it will entertain, inspire and empower young people living through this extraordinary time. We are looking for THREE freelance radio presenters and ONE freelance radio producer to make up the team.

April 2018: DJ Workshop for Women & Non-Binary People

We are excited to announce the first DJ Workshop for women & non-binary people at Pop-Up Brighton's space located next to the i360 on the seafront on Thursday 19th April. This event is for beginners who have either always wanted to learn how to DJ or have only just started and want to progress to the next stage of getting out onto the scene.
